Advocacy

The mission of AHIA includes advocacy for the profession of healthcare internal auditing. One goal is to increase awareness of internal auditing with governance and management of healthcare organizations for better recognition, acceptance and understanding. Another goal is to promote the profession to students to become healthcare internal auditors.

Role of Internal Auditors in ICD-10 Transition

On July 19, 2011, Mike Fabrizius, AHIA Board Chairman, represented our association on Talk Ten Tuesday, a weekly podcast of ICD-10 news and analysis. Mike championed the role of internal auditors and explained that their skill set and experience makes them invaluable partners in assuring the success of the transition to ICD-10. Healthcare Internal Auditing as a Career

On March 31, 2011, AHIA member Marjorie Liddle, Director of Internal Audit for The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey, participated in a panel discussion on internal auditing at Baruch College in New York City. Students had an opportunity to learn about internal audit functions, career development, and employment opportunities.
